Incoming Roar at The Memorial

Dublin, Ohio is the site of this week’s PGA Tour stop: The Memorial Tournament.

An annual stop on the PGA Tour, Muirfield Village Golf Club is a Jack Nicklaus design that fits the eye of one PGA Tour pro in particular: Tiger Woods.

Tiger is making his PGA Tour Restart debut on Thursday at the Memorial. It is likely that there isn’t a better place for him to return to the action. Tiger has won at Muirfield Village five times in his career so it is safe to say he is comfortable there.

Featured Groups:
Rory Mcilroy, Tiger Woods, and Brooks Koepka at 1:17 pm
Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, and Shane Lowry at 1:06 pm
Bryson Dechambeau, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa at 8:06 am
Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele, and Justin Thomas at 8:17 am
These groups can be viewed throughout their rounds on the PGA Tour Live app.

It is a fully loaded field this week at The Memorial, especially looking at the featured groups.

Although these featured groups provide lots of fun personalities to watch in rounds 1 and 2, you have to wonder why the PGA Tour didn’t pair Brooks Koepka with Bryson Dechambeau. These two have a bit of a history together and their struggles with each other have boiled over to social media recently. A group featuring those two together would be must watch TV, especially with the lack of crowd noise allowing us to hear occasional player conversations during the broadcast. With Brooks’ carefree attitude and Bryson’s scientific and strong approach to the game, we can only hope that they somehow find each other on the weekend.

Aside from everything else going on, the main story of the week is Tiger Woods playing golf. The entire sports world will be watching if Tiger is in contention come Sunday afternoon. I believe not picking Tiger as one of my three picks to win the tournament would be a big mistake.

My three picks this week:
Tiger Woods (+2200)
Bryson Dechambeau (+900)
Harold Varner III (+15000)

Tiger Woods is a simple pick. His history with this tournament combined with the hype surrounding his name. I would love to see Tiger come out on top on Sunday.

Bryson Dechambeau because he has been playing the best golf on the PGA Tour since the restart. It would be foolish not to pick Bryson after seeing him dominate golf courses all over America recently.

Harold Varner III is my long shot pick. He was playing great golf when the Tour initially returned and he has fallen off a bit, so I believe that he will return to form this week at Jack’s Place.
